As our final week draws to a close, we continued our Friday night tradition of open tutorials/informal crits with the Taula. Our final presentation was also attended by tutors of ETSAB including Eduard Bru and members of the council which added a different perspective to the redevelopment of Poblenou.

It was a great opportunity to show our regular Taula members our latest progress and gain some final local insight into our projects before we head back to Cardiff. I think we all wish to continue to use these insights within our projects as we continue to resolve them away from the context of Poblenou after experiencing our mistakes from last term throughout this trip.

In particular for me, was the intense discussion I generated from the introduction of high rise within Poblenou. I have know since the beginning it was a contested subject after the neighbourhood protests against high rise on the site of Can Ricart in the past, but I believe that higher density living should be re-imagined to be more sensitive to a thriving neighbourhood. The comments and feedback I received were interesting as some Taula members were receptive to the consideration of vertical streets complementing traditional horizontal streets, yet I have a way to go to resolve the hows and whys of this. Justifying my case is my next step.
Head over to the investagations page of the blog to see some of the work we have been undertaking whilst in Poblenou.
