Today EMUVE joined Taula member Jordi, to explore the most Southen zone of Eix Pere IV and Poblenou. His main aim was to raise awareness of the Taula and the engage the community in discussing their opinions of what they think of the area.

The focus of the Taula is to motivate the community into action, and promote the Taula as enthusiastic facilitators of the regeneration of the area.

The questionaire asked what elements of Poblenou the public would like to preserve, including architectural uniqness, industrail heritage and road spans. It opened a dialogue disussing what changes the community would want to see as the area progressively develops, these included the degregation of the historic buildings, widths of pedestrain zones and the noise of new nighlife districts.

After meeting at 10.30am, our job was to push the OBNI, which essentially was a trailer with accesible roof. It had two rows of seating on either side of the bottom platform and two ladders leading to roof platform. From the reactions of the neighbours and the community, they looked pretty shocked at the sight of it and couldnt stop watching us.

I was dubious about travelling to such a quiet area of Poblenou for fear of little community interest, however, i was completely surprised by how many people approached us and asked what we were doing. It was a good sign that perhaps community engagement could be sucessful in the area, despite such distinct areas.
