On our exploration around the Bogatell end of the Eix Pere IV, we became intrigued by the variety of doorways and entranceways that led onto the bustling streets. One in particular caught our attention, nestled into the side of a listed factory building and chained shut with a padlock. Peering through the crack, we discovered that the building had been appropriated by a group of squatters. Surprisingly, the space had been well equipped and looked quite homely: compete with carpets, curtains and even an iphone on the side table! In the coming weeks, we are hoping to investigate the 'organised squatting' in the area to see if this is a common use for the abandoned post-industrial heritage buildings of Poble Nou.
